Profile Article...Norcoast Mechanical, Inc.

Read the article about us.The following is a copy of a profile article on Norcoast Mechanical that was published in the spring of 1996 in the magazine “The Alaska Contractor.“

On the Cover principals of Norcoast Mechanical, Inc., David Bathke, Dennis Gregoire, and Bob Traeger who purchased predecessor company Sandstrom Mechanical, in 1986. The cover scene was taken at the new Southeast Anchorage Middle School where Norcoast did the plumbing and associated work, and is now putting the final touches on the finish trim-out hardware such as faucets, fixtures, valves and heat registers.

Bathke, a registered mechanical engineer grad of UAF and president of the company says that what they are doing now is the part of their work people can see. “Usually what we do is between the walls, under the floor and above the ceiling.”

His two partners are Dennis Gregoire, V.P. and Field Superintendent; and Bob Traeger, Secretary – Treasurer and Field Supervisor. Both men are journeymen plumbers and have several years experience dealing with the rigors of the Alaska climate.

While Gregoire and Traeger spend most of their time in the field, Bathke is at work in the office where he coordinates jobs in progress and does bid plans and workup. He attributes the company’s success to the dedication of the three owners. “It’s like a tripod, each of us supports the other.” Gregoire says that clients know an owner is always on site and that makes a real difference. They can get questions answered on the spot and there is plenty of opportunity for two-way communicating.
